Senior/Principal Urban Planner (Zoning)

Position and Required Skills
We are looking for a planner with significant experience in code writing to be part of our dynamic team, and potentially assume firm-wide leadership for zoning. This is a unique opportunity for someone with demonstrated prior experience in code writing, and interest in zoning. Hiring level is open, and we welcome resumes from candidates with significant experience.
The planner will lead and manage zoning assignments, which include comprehensive new citywide regulations or those with a specific focus—such as transit-oriented development, downtown, signs, parking, subdivisions, sustainable development practices or form-based codes. Candidates must enjoy zoning work and have a solid grasp of legal and technical underpinnings of zoning. Experience in administering zoning and development regulations, design expertise, and understanding of built form are desirable. We are interested in candidates with exceptional writing and analytical skills, who can effectively interface with clients and communicate in public settings.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess a Master of City Planning and/or a JD, with minimum five years’ zoning experience. Additional experience is desirable.
