APA Northern California Chapter Award Winner for Comprehensive Planning (2002)

Dyett & Bhatia prepared a new General Plan and related EIR for Pittsburg, located in fast-growing eastern Contra Costa County. Downtown revitalization, promoting infill development, economic development, reuse of industrial areas, land use planning for the new Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) extension, and waterfront accessibility were some key issues addressed. Ridgelines and hillside conversation areas were designated based on sophisticated three-dimensional GIS-based modeling. The plan has fostered infill development, and contributed to downtown rejuvenation since adoption. Dyett & Bhatia also prepared Pittsburg’s previous General Plan as well as the Zoning Ordinance.
