Dyett & Bhatia was recently retained by the City of Redwood City to prepare a plan for the El Camino Real Corridor. The project, which aims to direct development and reinvestment towards this principal spine of the community, will revise and streamline the zoning regulations that apply to various sections of the corridor. Reallocation of the right of way to achieve complete streets on a major Caltrans facility is a primary project goal. Key development opportunity sites around the Transit Center will also be considered, and public improvements that support walking, bicycling, and transit will be prioritized. The project also builds on Dyett & Bhatia’s recently completed work on developing a framework for a new Community Benefits Ordinance for the City, which aims to ensure that development impacts are appropriately mitigated and that residents stand to benefit equitably from new development.
