Santana Row and Winchester Boulevard Urban Village Master Plans
The City of San José has identified several areas as “Urban Villages”, and Dyett and Bhatia has been tasked with creating Master Plans for two of these areas: the Santana Row/Valley Fair Urban Village and the adjacent Winchester Boulevard Urban Village.
One of these two areas, Santana Row-Valley Fair, is emerging as San José’s “second downtown”, with significant development pressure on several sites near this major mixed-use San Jose destination. Many of these sites present complex development issues, with a wide variety of uses and parking configuration envisioned by the neighborhood and development community. At the same time time, the Winchester corridor, which stretches for 3/4-mile south of Santana Row, presents an opportunity to expand the energy of this regional destination and public realm to the south south through established San José neighborhoods. Dyett and Bhatia’s work on these Master Plans will outline the vision for the next phase of development around Santana Row.
