General plans are a specialty. Pioneering work by our predecessor firm (Livingston & Blayney) shaped many of California’s current general plan practices. We remain engaged at the forefront of contemporary concerns — planning for climate change and sustainability, linking land use and transportation, and shaping healthy and livable communities. We have prepared general plans for more than 60 cities and counties throughout California in the last 25 years, and our general plans/elements have won nine awards in the last four years alone from the American Planning Association.
We have expertise with the full spectrum of general/comprehensive planning skills, including community outreach and preparation of environmental impact reports (EIRs). We have authored a range of elements beyond those required by California state law, including Sustainability, Community Design, Historic Preservation, and Economic Development. We prepared the very first Health Element for a General Plan that was adopted in California, which won the National Planning Achievement Award for Environmental Planning in 2013 from the American Planning Association.
